The doctor told how many times a day you need to brush your teeth to avoid tartar

The orthodontist told about the need to maintain oral hygiene, brushing your teeth, and the dangers of violating the regimen.

According to the doctor, teeth should be brushed twice a day. Violations of the regimen, although sometimes permissible, are highly undesirable.

The doctor noted that there are many bacteria in the oral cavity that participate in the digestive process. Within 6-8 hours, the teeth are covered with plaque, consisting of bacteria that feed on carbohydrates and secrete acid.

And if this moment is missed, the acid corrodes the enamel: the contact layer is split. A white spot forms on the tooth surface. As a result, the calcium layer of the enamel is destroyed and caries begins in the white spot stage.

At the same time, in the white spot stage, the enamel can still be restored with the help of calcium-containing gels.

But not only caries can become a problem: if you regularly skip brushing your teeth, tartar forms from plaque. And this has more serious consequences for the teeth than ordinary plaque. Pathogens live in tartar, which can cause inflammation, recession and receding gums, caries in the stage of destruction of hard tissues and even duodenal ulcers.

“Plaque that is not cleaned within 12-24 hours mineralizes, since saliva contributes to the calcification of bacteria. This can be clearly seen on the inside of the lower jaw, from canine to canine on the six front teeth.

This area is where tartar formation mainly occurs, because the salivary ducts are located nearby. Bacteria compact and form calcifications. Only a dental hygienist can remove them by performing a special procedure,” the orthodontist warned.
