“When we go to the gym, we want our skeletal muscles to be in good shape. We train them, exercise them, thereby the muscles contract and relax. All this leads to increased tone. The same thing happens with blood vessels. It doesn't matter that it's smooth muscle,” Yulia Marshintseva explained.

At the same time, the doctor noted that people with cardiovascular diseases should use coffee with caution.

“Of course, one should not forget that coffee raises blood pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to measure blood pressure before and after drinking coffee and decide whether it is worth drinking it,” the cardiologist emphasized.

Research

Hungarian and London scientists conducted research for 10 years. Under supervision were people whose data were taken from the British Biobank. They were, on average, 56 years old and free of heart disease at the time of the study.

Results showed that those who drank 0.5 to 3 cups of coffee a day were less likely to die by the end of the study was 12 percent lower than among those who do not drink coffee. At the same time, they were 17 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular disease and 21 percent less likely to have a stroke compared to non-coffee drinkers.
