Adherence to sleep mode- one of the keys to health and longevity. The circadian rhythm, also known as the “internal clock”, is responsible for the quality and quantity of sleep. It's easy to break with one simple action.
Delayed alarm
Somnologist Deirdre McSweeney talks about a phone feature you should forget about to get your circadian rhythms back on track . She advises getting up at the same time every day, regardless of bedtime. When the phone tries to wake a person, the signal can be delayed for nine minutes. The expert called the “snooze alarm” function “the worst invention in the world”.
REM sleep phase
In order to wake up rested, you need to wake up in the REM sleep stage. It is characterized by the following signs:
- increased brain activity;
- rapid movements of the eyeballs;
- relaxed state of larger muscle groups.

By pressing the snooze button on the alarm clock, the body does not return to the fast sleep cycle. This means that during these nine minutes a person will not get a portion of healthy sleep.
Wake up correctly
When a person opens his eyes and sees sunlight, the brain he realizes that it's time to get up, says McSweeney. She noted that if jumping out of bed when the alarm sounds seems impossible, it's time to reconsider your habits. When a person cannot get out of bed after the first call, this may indicate a sleep disorder. You need to sleep for about seven to eight hours, but if even after that you can't turn on the snooze function, you should consult a doctor, says doctor Rina Mehra.
