Most often, the desire for something sweet is the body's signal of hunger. But such snacks are not the best option, according to an endocrinologist.

“Taking sweet food through certain mechanisms in the body also causes feelings pleasure. In this regard, the desire for sweets is often fixed in the form of a habit of eating behavior,” the endocrinologist noted.

However, sweets contain a lot of calories, and there are practically no useful substances in them, so such food is not preferred in diet.

How to reduce cravings for sweets

To reduce cravings for sweets, you need to diversify your diet with vegetables and grains. It is also important to avoid long breaks in meals (more than three to four hours). You can have a snack between the main meals.

“If the desire for sweets is mainly in the morning, you need to review your diet as a whole, exclude the fact of stress “eating” – for example, before going to a job you don't like,” advised the endocrinologist . And for those who have dinner early enough, an hour before going to bed, you can add a light snack – it can be fruits, vegetables, dairy products.

The doctor also added that if a person does not have diseases, sweets or any – which added sugar can make up to 5–10% of the daily calorie content of food in the diet.
