Reasons of poor growth of an apple tree

Let's start with the fact that not everyone knows which sapling they are buying, because the seller did not say anything. This means its climatic suitability and ability to grow in your region. For example, seedlings were grown in a warm region, and brought for sale, where the cold starts much earlier. Climatic incompatibility and lack of adaptation will be a real test for the seedling.

The scenario of events can be as follows. The seedling will not be able to withstand winter conditions normally. It will freeze constantly. Due to such stress, the plant will stop growing and will not be able to bear fruit. After a few years, young trees die. It is better to immediately dig up and plant another.

Apple trees categorically do not tolerate close groundwater. For large trees, the critical level is 3 m, for medium-sized trees – 2.5 m, and for small and dwarf trees – 1.5 m. In such a situation, you need to act only radically: carry out pruning and grow in the form of a compact tree. Its height should be up to 2.5 m.

An apple tree needs fertile soil. If it is planted in the wrong soil, then fertilizers should be applied to the stem circle. It is also a good way to improve the structure of the soil and its composition, if you grow peas in the same circle.
