The expert named electrical devices that “suck” money

The cost of living crisis is still a reality and many people try to save money where possible. One simple way to lower your energy bills is to make sure that unnecessary electrical appliances are turned off.
TikTok users have weighed in on the topic of “vampire appliances” that should be turned off in order to save money.
In addition to reducing bills, making some simple lifestyle changes can also have a positive impact on the environment. Some electronic devices continue to “use power” even when not in use. Many people leave the kettle or chargers on, but now people have a good reason to put an end to it, as it can lead to significant savings.
Previously Ian Palmer-Smith, home appliance expert at Domestic & General, listed the “worst appliances” that should never be left on standby. These include “vampire devices” that should be disconnected from the network – from TVs to microwaves.
“Some people think that just turning them off is enough, but there are many electrical appliances that continue to use electricity even if they are left plugged in. They are often called vampire devices. Appliances that need to heat water use a lot of energy – that's why dishwashers, washing machines and kettles have such high energy consumption figures. In standby mode, they consume more energy than others because they have to be ready to instantly heat water on demand,” he said.
He also emphasized that the most common “vampire devices” are washing machines, dishwashers , tumble dryers, TVs and microwave ovens. Computer monitors, printers and coffee machines also consume a lot of energy.
