Many people do not notice that they abuse cheese, says expert in nutrition from the USA Toby Amidor.
According to the expert, cheese should be consumed strictly in moderate quantities – abusing it can contribute to the appearance of long-term health problems. The American Heart Association notes that one serving of cheese is 1.5 ounces (about 42 grams) and recommends no more than three servings per day. The expert states: few people are satisfied with one portion of cheese at a time, they usually eat more. Thus, in a day – if a person likes to eat dishes with cheese – you can absorb a large dose of the product.
Speaking, the expert explained how such a passion for cheese and abusing it endangers health.
Weight gain. Depending on the type of cheese eaten, it adds up to 100 kilocalories to the diet with each serving. A daily calorie allowance in the form of this product can easily make the waist wider.
Problems from the gastrointestinal tract, constipation. Abuse of cheese, like any dairy product, increases the risk of problems with stomach, gas, bloating (especially for those who may be lactose intolerant). The expert said that the appearance of unpleasant symptoms after eating cheese is a reason to consult a doctor and get examined.
The specialist advises to give preference to white types of cheese – they have less fat.
Increased sodium level. Cheese is high in sodium. With high blood pressure, it is recommended to keep sodium levels at 2,400 milligrams per day or less, the expert emphasizes. Hypertensive patients should be aware of the sodium content of their favorite cheese, while others may prefer options with a low sodium content.
