The gardeners told what the best neighbors are for potatoes: there will be no “flying” pests

It's no secret that some plants grow better from the close proximity of some plants, while others, on the contrary, wither and even disappear. And pests of vegetable crops may not appear at all if the neighbors do not like them. This situation is observed with the Colorado potato beetle.

Details

The Colorado potato beetle has long been fond of potato plots. There he feels like a master, and when they try to destroy him, he flies to another vegetable garden, and he develops immunity to chemical means of control. It happens that a good remedy works only for 1-2 years, and then the beetle gnaws the sprayed leaves as if nothing had happened.

However, there are plants that the Colorado beetle cannot tolerate. And if they are planted next to potatoes, the pest will leave the area and not return.

The Colorado beetle does not like coriander, tansy, parsley, mint. Their smell repels pests. It also does not like mustard growing nearby.

The beetle also avoids zucchini, garlic and onion plantations. Plant them next to potatoes and you will see that there will be almost no beetles, only “flying” ones that will not stay long.
