The impact of which light preserves the health of the eyes, scientists have found out

Short-term exposure dark red light on the eyes in the morning hours helps to protect vision. This was announced by scientists.
In a previous study, the same team of scientists led by Harpreet Shinmar from University College London managed to prove that regular three-minute exposure to dark red light activates the production of mitochondria in retinal cells. This, in turn, weakens the age-related deterioration of the quality of vision.
In a recent scientific work, researchers found out whether it is possible to reduce the frequency of procedures. Additionally, they wanted to see if dimmer light would have an effect. Scientists were also interested in the optimal time of day for the procedure.
During a series of experiments, scientists exposed the eyes of 20 volunteers aged 34 to 70 to dark red light from an LED device. This procedure lasted for three minutes in the morning, since the evening similar therapy had practically no effect. It turned out that the subjects' perception of color contrast improved by 17%, the elderly participants – by 20%. A similar effect persisted for one week.
