It turned out that potatoes, beloved by many, can affect blood pressure. Researchers from Harvard Medical School came to this conclusion after studying the health status of more than 187,000 people who included potato dishes in their diet.
They found that the risk of high blood pressure was 11% higher in those who ate four or more servings of potatoes per week.
According to scientists, the whole point is the high glycemic load of the product (the effect of carbohydrate-containing food on the concentration of glucose in the blood after a meal). The exact mechanism of the vegetable's effect on blood pressure has not yet been established.
At the same time, beetroot is considered one of the best products for combating hypertension. The vegetable can be used not only in boiled form, but also to make juices from it. At the same time, it is recommended to boil the product in the skin so that the beneficial properties are not lost.
