The method of storing autumn cuttings of currants until spring without planting in the soil
1 < p>Currants can be successfully propagated in a budget way. And for this you only need to cut a sufficient number of cuttings. You can increase the number of bushes in the amount you need. Cuttings can be cut in autumn and germinated in spring.
How to save cuttings
One-year shoots should be cut from currant bushes in October or November. Cuttings 15-20 cm long are cut from it. The best ones are always from the middle part. Please note that this should be done before the onset of frost or snow, because the buds may freeze. The thickness of the cuttings is 8-10 mm.
Immediately after cutting, each cutting should be smeared on both sides with garden broth. Thus, the possibility of moisture loss will be closed. If there is no garden broth, then you can use paraffin.
Mark the prepared cuttings so as not to forget the variety. Wrap them in moistened paper and put them in a bag.
You can store them until spring in two ways: bury them in the snow or put them in the refrigerator. In the spring, you will have enough planting material for growing currant bushes.
