The minimum amount of alcohol that is dangerous for a person has been determined
Research by scientists from the University of Cambridge (Great Britain) determined the minimum amount of alcohol that can already be considered dangerous for human health and life – more than three glasses of wine per week.
The Lancet magazine, which reported on this work of British specialists, writes that to date their project is the largest study on the harm of alcohol to human health. A team of scientists led by Dr. Angela Wood analyzed the level of alcohol consumption in relation to health in more than 600,000 people from 19 countries.
It is noteworthy that we are talking about red wine, which is often called healthy because of its antioxidant content. substance resveratrol, which gets into it from grapes. According to scientists, this polyphenol is really able to slow down cell destruction and prevent heart diseases. But when drinking wine, a person receives it in a very small amount – the ethanol contained in an alcoholic drink outweighs the benefits of this component.
Scientists remind that the products of alcohol breakdown, including wine, are toxic substances for the body, able to cause inflammation of the lining of blood vessels, which threatens with diseases that shorten a person's life. The researchers urged to be skeptical about claims about the benefits of alcoholic beverages – the consequences of drinking them are much more destructive for the body.
