The most dangerous blood group – “you are at increased risk of heart disease”

The risk of heart disease may be related to blood type. The “most dangerous” blood types have been identified.

People with blood type A (second group), B (third group) or AB (fourth group) have a higher risk of coronary heart disease than people with blood type O (first group). When it comes to people at highest risk for heart disease, blood type AB tends to be the most at risk.

“Although people cannot change their blood type, our results may help doctors better understand who is at risk of developing heart diseases. It is useful to know your blood type in the same way that you should know your cholesterol or blood pressure. If you know you are at higher risk, you can reduce your risk by adopting a healthier lifestyle, such as eating right, exercising and not smoking,” says the cardiologist.

The data came from two long-term studies , which involved 89,550 adults over 20 years.

People with blood type AB (the fourth group) were 23% more likely to develop heart disease than others. People with blood type B (group three) had an 11 percent increased risk; those with type A blood (the second group) had a five percent risk.
