The most dangerous fish for health has been named

Fish is considered a very healthy product that contains easily digestible protein and omega-3 fatty acids. However, some types of fish are able to accumulate heavy metals and the first serious blow is taken by the liver.

According to a study published in eatthis.com, large age-old tuna may contain salts of heavy metals. With constant consumption of meat from such tuna, intoxication occurs.

— How do you know if you have been poisoned? You may experience itching or tingling of the fingertips, muscle weakness. There may be impaired coordination, speech and hearing, and decreased vision, — says Dr. Andrea Pola.

The liver suffers especially badly during intoxication, since the ability of enzymes to remove accumulated metabolites is impaired, and oxidative stress is formed.

The digestive tract is the first to react to acute poisoning (pain, nausea, vomiting). As heavy metals are absorbed into the blood, reactions from the heart and blood vessels (pressure surges, shortness of breath), kidneys, and liver are involved.

Oxidative stress is a set of processes that damage cells due to the oxidation of their components. Oxidation is a consequence of reactions between reactive oxygen species and polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes. The free radicals that are formed attack neighboring molecules and damage them.

— It must be recognized that seawater contains mercury, heavy metal salts, and lead due to oil spills and other human waste products. All of this accumulates in seafood. If you eat them, you may experience nausea, stomach pain, and headaches. The ecology is such that fish contains an increased amount of lead, which is a blow to the liver and the body as a whole, the study emphasizes.

According to American researchers, heavy metal salts accumulate in long-lived and predatory fish species at the top of the food chain: marlin, tuna, shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish, pike, perch, catfish, mackerel.

Also on the list are king mackerel, marlin, Atlantic bighead, shark, swordfish, bigeye tuna, as well as fish from the Malacanthidae family.
