The National Bank forbade Ukrainians to use credit funds for gambling

National The Bank of Ukraine prohibits the use of credit funds for gambling from June 22.

Starting from June 22, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine will introduce a ban on payment transactions of customers to the accounts of gambling organizers for participation in gambling games with the funds received under the terms of the loan, the message says.

The National Bank believes that such a step will allow:

• minimize risks for the security and stability of the country's financial system;
• reduce the negative consequences of the gambling sector on the Internet;
• will contribute to the protection of consumer rights and the development of responsible consumer lending.

The NBU emphasized that the changes are provided for by the Resolution of the Board of the National Bank of June 21, 2024 No. 72 “On Amendments to Resolution No. 18 of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine dated February 24, 2022”. The document enters into force on June 22, 2024.
