The number of steps per minute, which reduces the risk of heart and vascular diseases

A new study suggests that brisk walking can help reduce the risk of heart disease, but a certain number of steps per minute is particularly effective.

Although cardiovascular disease is considered the leading cause of death worldwide, studies show that the culprit risk can be modified. What's more, new research has shown that you can reduce your risk of heart disease by walking, probably every day.

Cardiovascular disease is a general term for conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels. The good news is that it's largely preventable with a healthy lifestyle.

Get your walking shoes and watch your steps.

A study found that walking up to 10,000 steps a day can help reduce the risk of heart disease. Moreover, the study also managed to determine the ideal number of steps per minute that can be beneficial for the blood-pumping organ. Brisk walking and a faster pace are beneficial. The bottom line here is that to protect health, people should ideally not only aim for 10,000 steps per day, but aim for faster.

In addition, the researchers noted that the number of steps taken during daily activities, was enough to prevent heart disease.

How many steps do I need to take per minute?

By counting each participant's total number of steps, the researchers identified three categories – less than 40 steps per minute and more. The third category included those who took the most steps per minute during a 30-minute window.

β€œThe subjects who walked the most – about 80 steps per minute, to be exact – had the greatest reduction in cardiovascular disease ”, – adds the cardiologist.
