It is rare, but some types of lung cancer cells produce hormones that enter the bloodstream. These hormones can cause symptoms that don't seem related to lung cancer. Doctors call them paraneoplastic syndrome. It is very important to be aware of any signs.
The oncologist listed unusual symptoms. Hormonal symptoms may include:
- Tingling or numbness in the fingers or toes
- Muscle weakness
- Drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, and confusion< /li>
- Breast swelling in men
- Blood clots
“Lung cancer that always causes symptoms in the early stages. Many of the signs and symptoms can also be caused by other diseases, but early detection of lung cancer can mean it is easier to treat,” says the doctor.
Symptoms include:
- Persistent cough
- Hemoptysis
- Persistent shortness of breath
- Unexplained fatigue and weight loss
- Pain when breathing or coughing
“It is important to contact your GP if you develop a new cough that is getting worse. Some people have swollen fingers and nails (drumsticks). They may also have joint pain and swelling. This condition is called hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy (HPOA)”.
