Experts from the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health University conducted a study and concluded that a breakfast containing fiber products from cereals can help reduce inflammation in the joints.
In addition, according to experts, such a breakfast will help keep the brain sharp and potentially increase longevity life. In their study, the researchers assessed whether dietary fiber intake was associated with reduced inflammation in older adults and whether fiber was inversely associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Results showed that total fiber, particularly fiber from cereals, associated with reduced inflammation and CVD. The experts also concluded that cereal fiber was the only one associated with reduced inflammation, unlike fruit or vegetable fiber.
According to Harvard Medical School, cereal fiber can be found in the bran, the hard outer layer. whole grains such as oats, wheat, rice and corn. However, if you don't want to limit your breakfast to cereal and bran, you can find fiber in whole wheat bread and pasta, brown rice, seeds, barley, and other whole grains.
