According to parliamentarian Anna Skorokhod, from 1 to 1.2 million Ukrainian men can avoid military registration abroad.
Since the beginning of mobilization in Ukraine, about 1.2 million men have illegally left for abroad. This was stated in an interview by Anna Skorokhod, a People's Deputy of Ukraine from the “For the Future” party, during a discussion of the new Ministry of National Unity, which is supposed to work on the return of Ukrainians home.
The deputy suggested that the Ministry of Unity in Ukraine was created not only to return Ukrainians from abroad and support Ukrainian communities in other countries, but also to prepare for the upcoming elections.
“I think the ministry is made for elections. This is my theory. We have a huge number of people abroad. They are unlikely to return before the elections. And they need to be counted, understand who is where, and somehow co-organize. I think the public side of this ministry is one: to return all Ukrainians home, ensure their rights are guaranteed even abroad, and so on. But the real task is precisely preparation for the elections,” said Anna Skorokhod.
According to her, the authorities need to clearly know how many Ukrainians live in different regions of each country in order to plan the voting.
