The security service detained a spy of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation, who was preparing a new series of rocket-bomb attacks on Kharkiv. The main targets of the enemy were secret places of storage of important technical documentation.
The attacker, a citizen of the Russian Federation who lives in Kharkiv and works in a local bank, tried to get the coordinates of the targets using his acquaintance, an employee of a state institution with access to secret information. He conducted surveys under the guise of domestic communication in the messenger in order to find out the locations of the documentation repositories.
SBU counter-intelligence detected the spy at an early stage of his activity, which made it possible to document all his actions. At the final stage of the special operation, he was detained in his own apartment. During the search, a Russian passport, a video recorder with footage of military facilities and mobile phones with evidence of contact with the aggressor were seized. He was in direct contact with a representative of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation through an anonymous messenger chat.
Now the investigators informed the attacker of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: espionage (Part 1, Article 114) and unauthorized dissemination of information on the Armed Forces (Part 3 of Art. 114-2). The perpetrator is in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
