Using a bicycle in city conditions to burn fat deposits is an extremely dangerous prank. According to the experienced fitness trainer Lev Goncharov, during training aimed at burning fat, it is important to observe one mandatory condition, which in the case of a bicycle is not fulfilled.
In order to effectively burn fat during cardio training, it is necessary to maintain a sufficiently high heart rate. This indicator is individual for each individual person, but on average they are 120-150 beats per minute. It is at such a pulse that effective burning of fat occurs without harm to the body. At the same time, Goncharov notes, it is possible to achieve such a high rate in urban conditions, but it will be dangerous both for the cyclist himself and for others.
“The problem in this case is that cyclists often ride on footpaths and can simply hit someone, and in the case of driving on the roadway, they can get under the wheels of a car. In general, riding in the city is a very dangerous venture, and therefore you have to ride with stops and decelerations, which does not allow you to achieve a high heart rate,” the expert noted.
The trainer also added that cycling can really help you lose weight, however it is much easier to achieve high results with ordinary running training. As for cycling, parks with bike paths and suburban velodromes, where you can increase your speed without looking back at pedestrians and other traffic, are the perfect choice.
