It is important for a person to replenish energy reserves, including when he is awake. Dalton-Smith singled out seven types of rest that every person needs.
Yes, the first of them is creative rest, or creative that will inspire and motivate. Next, mental rest, usually meditation, will allow you to calm your mind and focus on what is really important. Physical rest will relieve muscle pain and tension, as well as improve sleep.
During social rest, a person recharges with energy from communication with close and interesting people. Sensory rest, which involves turning off phones, TVs and other devices, will allow you to take a break from the so-called background noise. The last – spiritual rest – will give an opportunity to feel part of something bigger.
According to the therapist, a person may have a deficiency in one or another form of rest. And it must be filled. Sometimes you can resort to tricks. For example, if a person relaxes at the beach, but he does not have the opportunity to visit it, then you can regularly look at the corresponding picture. Dalton-Smith claims that our brain will react to it in the same way as to a real beach. “Such little tricks can make a big difference,” she said.
The doctor also recommended taking breaks from work. She explained that periodic distraction and rest will ensure higher productivity when a person returns to their work. According to her, the effect will be maximum if you devote the break not to social networks, but to a short walk, recharging or drinking tea.
