The time of day you eat can have a 'rejuvenating effect'

There is growing evidence that a plant-based diet can help prevent many chronic diseases. However, less attention has been paid to meal timing, which appears to also affect lifespan.
Many studies have examined the effects of time-restricted feeding (TRF) on markers of longevity. TRF is a form of intermittent fasting that involves a longer daily period of fasting.
Previous studies report that intermittent fasting improves cardiometabolic health and insulin resistance in rodents and humans.
The researchers determined how intermittent fasting affects gene expression, circulating hormones, and daily patterns of cardiometabolic risk factors in humans.
“Intermittent fasting reduced mean 24-hour glucose levels and glycemic fluctuations (the presence of glucose in the blood). This is important because unstable glucose (blood sugar) is a precursor and a sign of type 2 diabetes.”
What's more, intermittent fasting also changes the daily pattern of cortisol, a steroid hormone that helps regulate the body's response to stress. and expression of several circadian clock genes.
