In garden compositions, thuja often occupy positions of leaders or additions for flowering plants. There are many varieties, growth characteristics are different, so the choice will not be easy. Florists told which two varieties are most often planted in compositions.
Thuja “Danica”
Height no more than 80 cm. Growth of 5 cm per year. It is green and easy to cut. It grows slowly, so it will not quickly stand out in compositions. Dwarf thuja remains attractive and dense even over the years. They are planted in the foreground in flower beds. Combines with perennials, decorative grasses and deciduous plants. Unpretentious, but needs regular watering with the capture of the crown.
Western thuja “Woodwardi”
Spherical variety, but slightly larger than “Danica”. Grows up to 1.5 m. Can dominate compositions. It has a dense green crown. Grows slowly. It can complement other compositions, can grow in groups of several copies. “Woodwardy” is good for designing long mix borders.
