The undeservedly forgotten Ukrainian word charunka: a linguist recalled its meaning

A well-known Ukrainian linguist and author of school textbooks on the Ukrainian language explained the meaning of the words “yatka” and “charunka”. He also shared the correct Ukrainian name for the instrument known in Russian as a “file”.
Charunka is a cell, the expert shared interesting information during the broadcast of the program “Breakfast with 1+1”. “…this word (charunka, – Ed.) is undeservedly forgotten, and it has lived in the language for a long time,” the teacher noted.
The linguist also provided an explanation regarding the Ukrainian word “yatka”, pointing out that that it is a simple structure intended for temporary trade. In addition, Avramenko told how to correctly call the tool “file” in Ukrainian, noting that it has two names:

- “terpug”.
