These foods reduce the risk of prostate cancer

The authors of a new study found that regular consumption of colorful fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of prostate cancer.
Scientists compared the concentration of micronutrients in the plasma of prostate cancer patients and healthy people.
It turned out that the former more often had low levels of lutein, lycopene, alpha-carotene and selenium, as well as high levels of iron, sulfur and calcium. During radiation therapy, more DNA damage occurred if patients had low levels of lycopene and selenium in their blood plasma.
So, foods rich in lycopene include tomatoes, cantaloupe, papaya, grapes, peaches, watermelon, and cranberries. Foods rich in selenium include white meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, and nuts.
