Not all plants capable of self-pollination to demonstrate high yields. If you plan to plant trees and shrubs, find out which of them will not be able to bear fruit when grown alone. Some varieties require a couple.
Sea-buckthorn. Dioecious plant that requires the presence of both a male and a female tree in the area for the formation of berry ovaries. Accordingly, the berries ripen on female specimens, but without male trees there will be no harvest.
Lokhin. Bushes with tasty and valuable berries are grown only in pairs. It can self-pollinate, but in the case of blueberries, the question is the quality of the berries. There are even recommendations for which varieties should be planted together to increase yields and improve the taste of blueberries. For example, “Duke” should be planted together with “Patriot” or “Sunrise”.
Blackberry. Although blackberry is capable of self-pollination, it only gets better when grown in pairs. Blackberries then have a higher yield and larger berries. It is recommended to plant different varieties together.
Viburnum. This plant definitely takes an example from blackberries and blueberries. It can bear fruit without the help of a partner, but when growing two viburnums with the best berries, it is recommended to plant two viburnums on the plot.
Trees. Partnerships have apple trees, pears, cherries, plums, cherries, peaches, walnut. Studies prove that pair cultivation is only beneficial for them.
