Things were stolen from the storage room of the supermarket: what to do and how to defend your rights

The administration of the supermarket bears full responsibility for the safekeeping of things stored in storage cells (Part 3 of Article 937 of the Civil Code of Ukraine). The custodian of things must compensate for all damages in the event of loss in the amount of their value.

As reported by the State Production and Consumer Service, if things disappear from the storage room, you should immediately call the administration of the institution and the police.

< p>Remember exactly what was in your bag, describe all the things in detail to the police in order to document everything.

If the store administration refuses to voluntarily compensate the damage in full in the case of theft of items in the storage cells, you have the right to file an appropriate lawsuit in court.

The State Production and Consumer Service emphasizes that leaving things in a storage room in a store is a right, not an obligation of the buyer.
