This is why dietary supplements are useless for liver repair

A gastroenterologist and hepatologist said that biological supplements designed to support liver health are, at best, practically useless, and at worst, dangerous.

“Those substances that were supplements and showed an effect have already been classified as drugs. The same hepatoprotector ursodeoxycholic acid is obtained from bear bile, which was used to treat liver diseases in China several thousand years ago. “And now it is a drug with well-studied properties, which has been used for many years all over the world for certain liver pathologies,” the expert explained.

Supplements can also be dangerous. If the raw materials are contaminated during production or an unscrupulous manufacturer has added some new substances to the drug, the supplement can even lead to liver disease.
