The number of visits to the toilet, that has become more frequent, can be an alarming signal about the development of intestinal cancer, oncologists state.
Visiting the toilet is a delicate topic that is not accepted to be discussed. However, the ability to notice how bowel habits change can be of great importance in the timely diagnosis of colorectal cancer – this was reported by an oncologist.
The doctor emphasized: changes associated with visiting the toilet should not be overlooked:
“From the appearance of blood in the stool to how often you need to empty your bowels, most of the symptoms of bowel cancer manifest themselves in the toilet.”

The oncologist called the sign of bowel cancer, which occurs in almost all patients, is accelerated intestinal peristalsis, which leads to frequent visits to the toilet.
“When it comes to defecation, there are no strict universal norms, since the work of the intestines depends on individual characteristics. But still, there is a trend – patients with colon cancer notice that they start going to the toilet more often,” the doctor said.
This symptom is often mixed with other symptoms: for example, blood in the stool, looser or liquid stool, abdominal discomfort or bloating, feeling of a lump in the abdomen or anus, tiredness for no reason, and weight loss. If such problems are present for more than three weeks, it is necessary to consult a doctor to establish their cause.
