Three glasses of juice a day doubles the risk of heart disease

It's not just carbonated water that's harmful. The habit of drinking fresh juices can increase the risk of heart disease.

According to the conclusions made by researchers from Emory University (USA), not only various sweet carbonated waters, but also juices such as apple or orange juice can be harmful to the body. The results of their study involving more than 18,000 people show that drinking three glasses of juice a day can double the risk of developing heart disease, with this risk being particularly high in people over 45.

According to the authors of the study, the main reason for the negative impact of juices is the high concentration of sugar that is found in fruit and sweet vegetable drinks.

“In the case of juices, as well as carbonated water, a real “sugar flood” occurs in the body, in which sugar is instantly released into the bloodstream and negatively affects the condition of the heart, increasing the risk of organ disease,” the scientists warned.

Experts noted that vegetables and fruits of the same level of sweetness as juices are much less harmful to the body than drinks. With such food, a person receives substances that significantly slow down the process of digestion and absorption of sugar, such as fats and proteins.
