One of the most common causes of excessive hair loss is hormonal changes occurring in the body.
Hormones. Doctor Alice Witty, who specializes in the study of female hormones, says that “both men and women can develop a hormonal imbalance that threatens to cause thinning or hair loss.”
Witty added that hair loss can be influenced by a decrease in the level of sex hormones (testosterone in men, estrogen in women). In addition, hair loss is provoked by disorders in the production of thyroid hormones.
Stress. According to another interlocutor of the publication, hairdresser Krista Withrow, stress, especially prolonged stress, can lead to rapid hair thinning.
“Negative emotions kill the new hair that the follicles are trying to grow, and lead to the fact that existing hair in the hair growth cycle weakens earlier than usual,” the specialist explained.
Lack of nutrients. Another key reason for poor hair condition, its weakness and loss is a lack of protein and trace elements. In turn, the abuse of sweet, fried and processed foods, alcohol can lead to increased oxidative stress in the body, under the influence of which the work of hormones that determine the health of the hair is disrupted.
