Three main signs of arterial thrombosis
1
During thrombosis, dense blood clots (thrombi) form in the vessels, which slow down or stop the normal flow of blood. There are two types of thrombosis: venous and arterial.
As is clear from the names, in the first case, blood clots form in the veins, in the second – in the arteries. Arterial thrombosis is more dangerous, doctors note.
Arterial thrombosis is characterized by three main signs. Firstly, it is a sharp pain that occurs in one place and spreads in the form of a pulsating flow.
Secondly, there is numbness of the limbs depending on the location of the thrombus: they lose sensitivity and become cold. Thirdly, there is shortness of breath, heart rhythm disturbances, chest tightness (with pulmonary artery blockage)
With venous thrombosis, the symptoms are somewhat different. The following may occur: increased pain, swelling at the site of the thrombus, skin discoloration, swelling and bulging of the veins.
There are three main factors of thrombosis. The main one is damage to the vessel wall, which can occur as a result of trauma, infection, lifting heavy objects, childbirth, surgery, and poor nutrition.
Other factors include impaired blood clotting and blood stasis (for example, if a person sits in front of a computer for a long time, in an airplane seat, or is bedridden due to illness).
People with varicose veins, obesity, bad habits, a passive lifestyle, and people over 60 years of age can be included in the risk group.
