Three popular drinks can cause varicose veins in the legs

To drinks that sugar-sweetened beverages, alcohol, and coffee are those that have the greatest effect on the vascular system.
Varicose veins, located under the surface of the epidermis, are usually red or blue in color. They occur when the valves in the veins of the legs weaken and malfunction, which disrupts normal blood flow in the extremities. The valves in question prevent blood from flowing down when we assume an upright position.
With varicose veins, they fail to do this task, which leads to the accumulation of blood in the veins and increased pressure on their walls – this is how unsightly bulging veins appear.
Varicose veins can occur for many reasons. Sometimes the problem can be caused by excessive consumption of certain drinks, which can contribute to the problem.
The most pronounced effect on the vascular system is exerted by sugar-sweetened drinks, alcohol, and coffee.
Sugary drinks. According to Yevgeny Shiryaev, scientists have obtained evidence that sugar absorbs water and causes the venous wall to expand and swell. People with existing varicose veins should limit their consumption of sweetened foods and drinks.
Alcoholic drinks. When drinking alcohol, the load on the vascular system increases significantly, the heart rate increases – this is due to the loss of red blood cells, which are responsible for delivering oxygen throughout the body. Thus, drinking increases the pressure on the walls of the vessels, including in the lower legs and feet, which contributes to the swelling of the veins on the legs.
Coffee. One of the most popular drinks in the world is also capable of causing similar complications. The specialist explained that blood vessels often react to caffeine with contractions – spasms. For this reason, for example, after coffee you may get a headache or blood pressure increases. Another consequence of such spasms can be venous insufficiency, characterized by swelling of the veins.
