Three types of meat that will protect against dementia

Scientists have found that some types of meat contain antioxidants that reduce the risk of developing dementia. Among them is chicken.
According to a study published in Antioxidants, pork, beef, and chicken contain special antioxidants – imidazole dipeptides (IDPs). These substances have previously been linked to a lower risk of dementia, says Dr. AndrĂ© Britten-Disson.
Previously, it was known that the imidazole dipeptides carnosine and anserine have neuroprotective properties that help prevent dementia. These substances have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Studies also indicate a connection between carnosine and anserine and brain health. It turned out that those with high levels of these substances in the blood had a lower risk of developing brain disorders over 10 years.
Another study, published in Nutrients, found that supplementing with carnosine for six months improved cognitive function in older people. However, this only applied to those with mild cognitive impairment.
