Tips on how to remove the unpleasant smell of sea fish:
- Vinegar or lemon juice.< /strong> After cleaning and preparing the fish, be sure to rinse it in water with the addition of vinegar or fresh lemon juice. The acid neutralizes the smell of trimethylamine, leaving the fish fresh in taste and aroma.
- Milk. Another effective method is to soak the fish in milk for 20-30 minutes. Milk absorbs unpleasant odors and makes fish meat more tender.
- Spices and herbs. Using spices during cooking also helps to hide the smell of fish. Bay leaves, rosemary, thyme, basil or pepper can interrupt the sharp aroma and add a pleasant taste to the dish.
- Salt. Before cooking, lightly rub the fish with salt and leave it for 15 minutes. Then rinse under cold water. Salt will help remove the remains of the smell and make the fish softer.
