Tomatoes and watermelons reduce the risk of cancer by 10%

Although experts admit that research of prostate cancer prevention is “still in its infancy,” one particular nutrient found in homegrown fruit has been shown to help prevent the disease.

Prostate cancer can be a devastating and insidious disease, which shows few signs until it becomes large enough to become dangerous.

There is growing evidence that lifestyle choices can help prevent the disease. One such option is to eat foods that contain lycopene.

Lycopene is a naturally occurring chemical found in red and pink fruits, such as watermelon and tomatoes, that gives them their color.

< p>“Over the years, evidence has accumulated that the consumption of foods containing lycopene is associated with a lower risk of developing prostate cancer. “People who consumed the most lycopene in their diet had an 11% lower risk of developing prostate cancer than those who ate the least,” explains the doctor.

It was found that, on average, all studies have shown that the risk of developing prostate cancer was reduced by one percent per 1 milligram of lycopene consumed daily.

Some foods contain biologically active ingredients that can reduce inflammation, balance hormones in the body, strengthen the immune system, and improve blood oxygenation and help fight the risk of developing chronic diseases, including cancer.

Lycopene is especially high in tomatoes and watermelon.
