Training at the right time of day was called the key to longevity

Few people will dare to argue about the importance of physical activity, but opinions about when is best to exercise often differ. Some claim that the morning is ideal for training, because after rest the body is ready for new loads, others are sure that it is best to train in the evening.
Trainer Dina Hammond-Blackburn said that the key to longevity is to exercise at certain times of the day. A study published in Integrative Medicine Research found that short workouts are best left for the evening. “However, with longer workouts (60 minutes or more), there was practically no difference in the effect depending on the time of day,” she added.
The specialist explained that, although exercises contribute to the improvement of many biological functions, the latter also take part in the physical activity itself. Moreover, one of the key processes is the production and release of hormones, in particular, testosterone and cortisol. Both play a key role in the recovery and maintenance of muscle tone.
According to the coach, the balance between these hormones has a more favorable effect after training in the evening, rather than in the morning.
Currently there is no clear answer to the question of what time is best to do exercises for longevity. However, it should be noted that even shorter workouts can add several years to life, Hammond-Blackburn said. Numerous studies have shown that a small amount of exercise per week also reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases, prevents the development of certain types of cancer, reduces the risk of osteoporosis and increases life expectancy.
A recent study proved that even 11 minutes of exercise per day can provide longevity. Scientists have concluded that moderate activity, which includes walking, cycling and dancing, increases heart rate and improves blood circulation.
