Life expectancy and increased risk of early death are influenced by many factors, including poor nutrition, high blood pressure, obesity and smoking.
A recent study conducted by specialists from Northwestern University in Chicago and the University of Surrey in Great Britain showed that premature death can be triggered by two factors.
More than half a million middle-aged people participated in the study. In a press release published on EurekAlert, it is emphasized that this is the first work in which the influence of these factors on life expectancy was studied.
After analyzing the data obtained, scientists came to the conclusion that the risk of early death increases by 87% sleep and diabetes, mainly of the second type. At the same time, people with diabetes who did not have sleep problems were prone to premature death by only 12%.
It is also emphasized that the risk of early death increases not only the lack of sleep in general, but also problems with falling asleep, as well as apnea (stopping breathing during sleep). Therefore, experts recommend starting to treat sleep problems at an early age. And they advise doctors to treat such patients more seriously.
