Two facial symptoms may indicate risk of developing hypertension

Hypertension is a fairly common disease and at the same time quite dangerous. High blood pressure can cause serious health problems, especially the heart experiences a great load. When the organ works in an intensive mode for a long time, the risk of heart attack and stroke increases.

Blood pressure is determined both by the amount of blood pumped by the heart and by the amount of resistance to blood flow in the arteries. The more blood the heart muscle pumps and the narrower the arteries, the higher the pressure. Two visible facial symptoms are the most common signs of high blood pressure.

Facial flushing

It occurs when the blood vessels in your face dilate. This can happen suddenly or in response to certain triggers, such as sun exposure, cold weather, spicy foods, wind, hot drinks, and skin care products.

According to the American Heart Association, flushing can sometimes occur with emotional stress, alcohol consumption, and exercise. All of these can temporarily raise your blood pressure.

Blood spots in your eyes

This symptom is most common in people with high blood pressure or diabetes. “Flies” before your eyes can also be associated with hypertension. “An ophthalmologist can detect optic nerve damage caused by untreated hypertension,” the association notes.

Other manifestations of high blood pressure in the body include: chest pain, shortness of breath, headaches, nosebleeds, dizziness. To reduce the risk of developing the disease, you need to change your lifestyle. This includes eating less salt and exercising more.
