Two houseplants that love sphagnum moss in a pot

Sphagnum is a perennial marsh moss that contains phenol. It acts as an antiseptic, which contributes to its effective use for houseplants. Florists told us which of them really love sphagnum and respond best to it.

Why and who needs sphagnum

This type of moss is used as part of a substrate mixture. Of course, it is not suitable for all plants. By the way, there are no nutrients in sphagnum.

By its nature, sphagnum has an acidic habitat. That is why it is suitable for plants that also grow in similar conditions. Its pH is about 3.0.

Sphagnum is most liked by violets and orchids. Please note that it is mostly not used in its pure form. It is added to the mixture in which the specified plants grow.
