Not in all cases do you need to grab the pruners in the fall. Experienced gardeners name several main reasons when you definitely need to carry out this procedure. Read more about it later in the post.
To prune trees or not
Gardeners talked about the main situations when you really need to grab the pruners. You need to look at the tree objectively. If you find a cancer lesion, cut off such branches from the tree if possible. Do not leave them on the site so that the spores do not infect other trees.
The second reason to prune is the shoots. It should not just be cut as low as possible, but from the base where it grows. You will have to dig down to the place where the root of the shoot departs from the mother root system. Pruning is done there. If the cut area is large enough, it should be treated with garden pitch.
