The liver is a “silent” organ, and in the first stages of the disease may not be detected at all . In advanced cases, violations in the work of this organ become obvious, British doctors reported.
Fatty hepatosis or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a disease in which excessive accumulation of fats (mainly triglycerides) is observed in the liver. Normally, there is a certain amount of fat in it, but under the influence of pathological factors, the balance between the synthesis and utilization of fats is disturbed. The content of triglycerides in NAFLD can reach 40 percent of the weight of the liver (with a norm of about 5 percent).
Doctors from Great Britain note that people with fatty hepatosis in the early stages of the disease do not have any symptoms at all, and closer to the development cirrhosis, they begin to manifest and become visible to the naked eye.
According to the article, the presence of liver cirrhosis is indicated by nosebleeds and yellowed whites of the eyes. The patient's skin (especially with cholestatic cirrhosis) may be jaundiced (jaundice increases with the progression of cirrhosis). Yellow coloring of the sclera, skin, dark urine, white stools are signs that there is a malfunction with the outflow of bile produced by the liver.
As doctors note, at a later stage, there are disturbances from the gastrointestinal tract: vomiting with blood, diarrhea, white stool, intolerance to fatty food.
Dull, aching pain in the right hypochondrium is a classic symptom of cirrhosis. Their appearance is associated with an increase in the size of the liver.
Itching of the skin begins, which can become unbearable. Often the cause is the accumulation of bile acids under the skin, which irritate the receptors and provoke itching of the skin.
When the liver is not in order, hormones are not properly utilized and small subcutaneous vessels begin to expand. Vascular stars appear. Another symptom of problems can be xanthelasma – yellowish plaques on the eyelids associated with the deposition of cholesterol under the skin.
