Pearl groats groats must be soaked for 1-3 hours beforehand. This will help to reduce the time for its preparation later. Then the groats are washed and boiled in water in a ratio of 1 to 3. The taste of pearl barley is universal. It can be supplemented with any products and flavors.
Method No. 1
With onions and carrots. Any cereal and porridge will become tastier if you add a roast to them. In a frying pan with oil and butter, fry the onion and carrots. You can add a clove of garlic for a better aroma. A little salt and pepper. Season the boiled cereal with the roast, and you will have a tasty and healthy side dish.
Method #2
When there is meat, any cereal will become a full-fledged dish, not just a side dish. Prepare the following ingredients:
- pearl barley — 1 tbsp.;
- meat (beef or pork) — 500 g;
- onion — 1 pc.;
- carrot — 1 pc.;
- garlic — 4 cloves;
- tomato paste — 1 tbsp.;
- hot pepper — 0.5 tsp.;
- black pepper;
- oil.

Soak the grain for an hour in cold water. Cut the meat into pieces, as well as onions and carrots. Now pour oil into a cauldron or pan. Put the meat to fry together with the onion. When it all comes together well for a few minutes, you can lay down the carrots. Let everything stew together, and in the meantime you can do the pearl barley.
Let's move on to the next stage. After soaking, the groats should be dried with a towel and placed on a dry pan without oil. The goal is to fry the groats until a light nutty aroma appears.
When the meat and vegetables have been simmering for about 15 minutes, transfer the groats to a general saucepan and cover with water. The water level should be 2 cm above the surface. Stew groats with meat for 40 minutes. Delicious!
