Type 3 diabetes: doctors have named the symptoms of a little-known disease

On the existence of type 1 diabetes and Type 2 is known to many, but doctors remind that in some cases, due to certain problems with the pancreas, type 3 diabetes can occur.

Type 3 diabetes is considered pancreatogenic diabetes, its exact name is type 3c diabetes, the disease becomes as a result of damage, inflammation of the exocrine part of the pancreas.

“Type 3c diabetes develops due to damage to the pancreas, which can happen for several reasons. It differs from other types, however, it is little known, and when it occurs, there is a risk of receiving an incorrect diagnosis of type 2 diabetes,” the doctors state.

In turn, the organization Diabetes UK postulates that it is possible to get type 3 diabetes as a result of the fact that some disease, condition or surgical operation has pathologically affected the pancreas, provoking a change in its functioning. The damaged iron stops producing enough insulin, and even stops producing the enzyme needed to digest food.

Experts have named “a number of signs” of type 3 diabetes.

  • Spontaneous, seemingly unexplained weight loss.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Feeling more tired.
  • Increased flatulence.
  • Becomes fat stool (it sinks badly, remains on the walls of the toilet).
  • Development of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level).

Hypoglycemia is characterized by a blood sugar level that becomes lower than 4 mmol/l. Doctors emphasize that it is important to avoid hypoglycemia, as damage to the pancreas can specifically affect the body's reactions to low blood glucose. At the same time, very serious conditions can develop.

Many factors can cause fluctuations in the blood sugar level (both its increase and decrease): for example, diseases, stress, invasive interventions, various foods and drinks, the level of physical activity activities, medication.
