If hot weather returns to Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy does not predict strict blackout schedules, as in July, provided there are no Russian shelling.

She emphasized that in recent weeks in Ukraine, indeed the situation with power outages has stabilized thanks to the completion of planned repairs at power units of nuclear power plants.

“We plan to add additional capacity to the power system. Even if the heat returns, we hope we won't have such outages as in July,” Grynchuk emphasized. At the same time, she added that the situation could change at any moment due to potential enemy attacks on the power system. .

Please note that the power outage schedule has not been in force in Ukraine for the past two weeks. Only on the evening of August 8, the energy authorities introduced restrictions on the consumption of electricity for industry and business.

Why did they stop turning off the lights and when will they start again

Since July 30, Ukraine has been living without power cuts. The main factors that allowed energy companies to abandon shutdowns were the end of abnormal heat and the withdrawal of power units of nuclear power plants from repairs.

But this year, NAEC “Energoatom” has to repair two more power units of the nuclear power plant in order to prepare for the heating season. They are planned to be connected to the system by November 2024.

Therefore, with the autumn cooling, the graphs may return. Their duration will depend on the extent to which it will be possible to restore damaged power plants and increase import limits.
