Ukrzaliznytsia has updated the rules for transporting animals: details

“Ukrzaliznytsia” initiated an update of the rules for the transportation of animals, to make traveling with pets more comfortable and convenient for all passengers. 

What changes are proposed:

• More freedom for small animals: small animals up to 45 cm at the withers will be able to stay temporarily without a carrier in compartment cars to relax and sleep on the shelf.
• New possibilities for large dogs: large dogs from 45 cm will be able to travel in SV and RIC cars (RIC) if the compartment is fully purchased, as well as in Intercity+ if all seats in the same row are purchased.
• Convenient carriers: the definition of “rigid construction” will be removed from the description of carriers . This means that modern animal backpacks with a waterproof and absorbent bottom will be suitable for transportation.
• Free travel for service dogs: service dogs of the Defense Forces will be able to travel free of charge in all types of carriages, wearing a muzzle and a leash.
• Respect for all passengers: in case of discomfort or allergic reaction from the neighborhood with an animal, “Ukrzaliznytsia” will provide alternative seats.

< p>Social campaign:

Ukrzaliznytsia together with UAnimals will start work on a social campaign that will call on passengers without animals to treat passengers with pets with respect. Before approval by the State Regulatory Service of Ukraine, the draft order with all changes will be submitted for public discussion.
