Universal dough for dumplings and dumplings

Dough for dumplings and dumplings is a base that should always be elastic and not tear during cooking. The universal recipe will allow you to prepare the perfect dough, which is suitable for both salty and sweet fillings. Even children will be able to sculpt.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 glass of water (or milk)
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • a pinch of salt

In the classic version, the dough is prepared in water, but milk gives it a more delicate texture. First, sift the flour into a deep bowl. Add salt and mix. Beat the egg with water or milk and pour into the flour, adding oil for softness. Knead the dough until it is smooth and uniform.

One of the important tips for a perfect dough is to let it rest. After kneading, the dough should be covered with a towel and left for 30 minutes. This will allow it to “rest”, which will greatly facilitate rolling and increase elasticity.

It is interesting that different proportions of ingredients are used in different regions of Ukraine: some housewives add more eggs for a denser texture, others – milk or even cream for greater aroma and tenderness. But the base remains the same – flour, water and a little oil.

  1. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water or milk.
  2. Don't forget to cover the dough with a towel or cling film, so that it does not dry out.
  3. Roll out the dough thinly – so the dumplings and dumplings will be tender and light.
