Urgent visit to the doctor: 8 cases when pain cannot be tolerated
0
There are cases when unpleasant sensations can be tolerated or removed by taking a pill. But sometimes sharp pain is a serious signal that something is wrong in the body, so you can't waste a minute.
Now, when doctors and hospitals are working with an increased workload, it is recommended to seek help only in emergency cases, postponing all less urgent health problems until “after the coronavirus”.
We tell you when you can't tolerate the pain in any case, and even more so “suppress” it with painkillers, and you need to urgently run to the doctor.
Severe headache
A very severe headache, which starts suddenly and spreads and increases almost instantly – a reason to see a doctor immediately, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Most often, a sharp and almost unbearable headache is a sign of a stroke or even a large hemorrhage in the brain.
Great pain in the chest
This is the most well-known (though not the most common) symptom of an impending heart attack. If you or someone close to you has felt pain that spreads to the chest, call an ambulance without delay!
Lower back pain
Lower back pain, localized to the right or left or diffuse , may be a sign of kidney infection. It is important to see a doctor as soon as possible because the infection can cause blood infection or kidney failure.
Buttock pain
Severe pain in the upper part of the thigh, moving to the area of the buttocks, is a symptom of sciatica, damage to the sciatic nerve. With this disease, it is important to take measures as soon as possible and slow down the development of the disease, otherwise it can lead to the development of muscle weakness, inflammation and even paralysis.
Pains in the right side of the abdomen
Sharp pain in the right lower abdomen, especially accompanied by high fever, nausea and vomiting, can be a sign of appendicitis. However, even if there are no “additional” symptoms, it is still important to consult a doctor: sometimes appendicitis develops rapidly.
Pains in the lower abdomen
Unfortunately, many women experience severe pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation, but if they are really strong, it is important to see a doctor. Such pains can be symptoms of endometriosis, a disease that can significantly increase the risk of infertility.
Aching pain or cramps in the legs
Frequent leg cramps or a feeling of aching pain should also not be ignored: this may be a sign of deep vein thrombosis. It is important to do an ultrasound to rule out this diagnosis – otherwise, thrombosis can lead to a blockage of a heart or pulmonary artery.
Numbness in the legs
Sometimes we all experience a feeling of numbness or tingling in the legs, but if it appears often, it is worth checking the level of sugar in the blood: frequent loss of sensation in the legs can be a symptom of developing type 2 diabetes. See an endocrinologist as soon as possible and check your glucose level!
