American scientists have proven that a sedentary lifestyle is one of the key risk factors for stroke along with hypertension. And even the lightest types of physical activity, such as hiking or gardening, reduce the risk of this most dangerous brain disorder. Until now, science has not studied the intensity of physical activity, which can be assessed with the help of, for example, accelerometers, and the possibility of developing a stroke.

The study showed that the less time people spent in a sitting position, the lower the probability of a stroke. At the same time, moderate to high activity reduced this risk the most, but even the lightest type of exercise still provided some additional protection against stroke.

Physical activities are divided into light, moderate and high intensity. Light activity is taking a sip, walking slowly, even browsing the shops, walking around the house, cooking, washing dishes, making the bed and playing the piano. Everything is suitable to protect against a stroke.
